Why a long haul is a different job
A Move That Crosses a State Line Has Two Schedules, Not One
A local move ends the same afternoon. A long-distance move has a load day, a drive, and a delivery day — often in a state where you do not know a soul yet. What makes it go smoothly is planning all three before the truck rolls.
Out-of-State Moves
Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, the coast, or across the country. You get the same written number and the same crew standards at both ends.
Packed for the Miles
Boxes that survive a cross-town hop can fail on a 1,200-mile haul. Long-distance loads are packed and padded for the road, not for the driveway.
Storage In Between
Closing on one end before the other? Ask about storage when you request your estimate and it goes on the written number with everything else.

What Sets the Price on an Out-of-State Move
Long-distance quotes are where surprise charges do the most damage, because by the time the truck is three states away you have no leverage. Ours is written down first.
- Distance and routeMiles are the biggest single factor. The route and the delivery window are both on the estimate.
- How much shipsWeight or volume, depending on how your move is priced. Fewer boxes is a smaller number, so this is the one place decluttering pays.
- PackingFull, partial, or none. A long haul is harder on boxes than a cross-town move, so this matters more than it does locally.
- Access at both endsStairs, elevators, gates and narrow streets — at origin and destination. We ask about both before quoting, not after.
- Storage between datesIf the dates do not line up, storage is quoted with the move instead of becoming a scramble later.
- No surprise chargesFuel, travel and stair charges are in the estimate or they do not exist. That is the policy on a 1,500-mile move the same as a 15-minute one.

Check the USDOT Number — Ours Included
Interstate moving is where rogue movers do their damage: a low phone quote, a loaded truck, then a bigger number before anything comes off it. Arizona does not license household movers, so the credential that actually means something is the USDOT registration.
- Look us upSearch any interstate mover, including us, in the FMCSA mover database. Registration and complaint history are both public.
- Get it in writing before load dayAnyone who will not put the number in writing before the truck is loaded has told you something useful.
- Read the state guideThe Arizona Attorney General’s Rogue Mover guide is short and worth ten minutes before you hire anyone.

Long-Distance Moving Questions
What counts as a long-distance move?
Any move that crosses a state line, and most moves that leave the Tucson region for another part of Arizona. Anything that starts and ends inside Pima County is a local move and is priced differently.
How is a long-distance move priced?
Distance, the weight or volume of what ships, packing, and access at both ends. All of it is itemized on a free written estimate before you commit, and that is the number you plan around.
How long does delivery take?
It depends on the distance and the route. Your estimate includes the delivery window your move is planned around, and you get one point of contact to call for an update.
Can you store my things between the two dates?
Tell us when you request your estimate. If your move-out and move-in dates do not line up, the storage options and their cost go on the written estimate with everything else.
How do I check out a long-distance mover before I book?
Arizona does not license household movers, so the credential to check is the USDOT number. Look up any interstate mover’s registration and complaint history in the FMCSA mover database. Ours is shown at the top and bottom of every page.
How far ahead should I book an out-of-state move?
Earlier than a local move. Summer weeks and end-of-month dates fill first, and a long-distance move has two schedules to line up instead of one.
Do you pack for a long-distance move?
Full packing, partial such as kitchen and fragile items only, or none at all. Long hauls put more miles under your boxes, so tell us at estimate time and it is planned and priced.
